Concept to Completion
A fully-integrated electronic system is used to monitor the progress of all projects,
right from
concept through the initial estimating stage, planning, implementation
and final completion.
Why Waterless?
Because of the benefits, of course!
In, 2001, at the time when Labelpak became the only waterless offset
printing
company
in SA by importing its waterless printing equipment, a large
number of
South African labels
had to be printed in countries such as Australia
and the UK.
Waterless printing also renders higher quality than digital printing
because of its
reduced dot-sizes (four micron). It is also the only
environmentally-friendly
printing method.
The most important benefits
of waterless printing include
perfect reproduction. This means that art and
graphic material
submitted to
Labelpak is reproduced without any loss of definition.
The process also ensures
a zero-percent vignette because of the reduced
dot-sizes used.
The sleeve
foiling method also distinguishes Labelpak as the only
SA printing company
capable of in-line printing on
foil. This brings the customer
superb quality
at a much-reduced rate.
What is Waterless?
The Waterless Printing Association, of which Labelpak is a member, defines
Waterless Printing
as an offset lithographic printing process that
eliminates
the water or dampening system
used in conventional
printing.
The process
involves the use of special silicone rubber-coated
printing plates, special ink and,
typically, a means of temperature
control on press.
Waterless and the Environment
The printing industry has been cited as a major contributor to environmental
degradation in many
countries throughout the world (www.waterless.org).
The advent of waterless printing, however, has earned numerous printing
companies national and
international environmental awards in recognition of
their environmental standards. According to
the Waterless Printing Association,
many role players in the printing industry are currently receiving
ISO 14001
certification for their Environmental Management programmes.
Environmental benefits incurred by the use of waterless printing include
reduced air and water
pollution, reduced deforestation and safe
working conditions.
